Parents and Grandparents Sponsorships - What you should know

Updated: Nov 9, 2020

The online form to point out your interest to sponsor is now opened from noon EDT on October 13, 2020 to noon EST on November 3, 2020. Using this form, the IRCC would randomly select and invite potential sponsors who would like to sponsor their parents and grandparents.

Before you submit your interest to sponsor form:

1. Make sure you understand the eligibility requirements including income requirements as well as an electronic copy of your proof of status in Canada.

Arrangement has also been made for people with disabilities who might be unable to use the web form.

Filling out the forms

You must fill out the interest to sponsor form very carefully. It is preferable to use a computer rather than a mobile device.

If you make a mistake on your interest to sponsor form, don’t submit another form if you are invited to apply, you can then update it on the application form but you will have to write a letter explaining any proof of the changes.

Only one submission is required, as duplicate entries will not increase your chances of being selected and invited to apply and will be removed.

After you submit your interest to the sponsor form, you will get a confirmation number that can't be transferred to another potential sponsor.

Your confirmation number is what you would later require to check if you’ve been invited to apply.
