In 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) introduced a new method for selecting candidates through Express Entry with "category-based" invitation rounds, and out of 110,266 candidates that were invited under the Express Entry system, 25,870 were category-based invitations.
These rounds focus on top-ranking candidates eligible under specific categories defined by the Minister, aligning with Canada's economic goals. With a total of 62,615 ITAs Issued in 2024, 32,075 Invitations have been category-based draws.
