After moving to Canada as a permanent resident, Mrs. Bee returned home to marry.
Now married, she can sponsor her spouse to come to Canada. She would have the option to apply for inland sponsorship or Outland sponsorship.
However, her spouse had never visited Canada before to determine if Canada would be their country of choice as a couple. Mrs. Bee definitely wanted to proceed with inland spousal sponsorship after consulting with us. However, his visit to Canada would be important for both of them to determine if they want to make Canada home.
The first step was to get him to Canada. A visiting visa was submitted in the Old IRCC portal for visiting visa applications and no decision was received.
We re-submitted in the new portal on December 24th, 2021, and a decision was received within 2months on February 10th. However, it was a refusal letter.
What's the New Portal About?
On Sept 7th, 2021, IRCC implemented a new portal, and currently, below are the eligible applicants to use this portal as of today, March 15th, 2021.
If you select "none of the above' e,g tourism you are re-directed to use the old IRCC portal for your application.
We have noticed faster processing for applications submitted in the new portal verse those submitted in the old portal. There is no guarantee for a faster decision as it is based on case by case. Our longest cases in the new portal has been 3months so far and that could change too.
While the decision was received within 2months, it was not the decision we hoped for. We reviewed the refusal letter and discovered that there was clearly an error based on the refusal grounds as none of them applied to our client's situation.

With this, he can also apply for a work permit while waiting for a decision. This has definitely been a big win for our clients and our team.
