New Immigration Pilot Programs Now Open for Rural and Francophone Communities

The Government of Canada has launched the Rural Community Immigration Pilot and the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot, offering exciting opportunities for rural and Francophone minority communities across the country.

Why These Pilots?

Rural and Francophone minority communities are vital to Canada's identity, but they also face challenges in attracting skilled workers. These pilots aim to address that by creating a pathway to permanent residency for skilled immigrants who want to live and work in these communities.

How Does it Work?

Economic development organizations in rural and Francophone communities across Canada can apply to participate in the pilots. Up to 15 communities will be chosen based on their economic needs, support programs for newcomers, and the organization's ability to collaborate with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

What are the Benefits?

  • Economic Growth: Attract skilled workers to fill labor shortages and grow your local businesses.

  • Cultural Vitality: Welcome newcomers who enrich your community's cultural fabric.

  • Francophone Focus: The Francophone Community Immigration Pilot specifically supports French-speaking communities outside Quebec.

Applying for the Pilot Programs

Interested economic development organizations are encouraged to submit their applications through the IRCC online questionnaire by July 2nd, 2024.

Program Highlights

  • Combined, these pilots have the potential to process up to 5,500 permanent resident applications annually.

  • This initiative aligns with IRCC's commitment to supporting Francophone immigration streams.

  • It builds upon the strategic vision outlined in the report "An Immigration System for Canada's Future," aiming to strengthen the country's immigration system for the benefit of both Canada and newcomers.
