How to apply for the Nova Scotia Critical Construction Worker Pilot - Job Offer Pathway

The Critical Construction Worker Pilot is a new immigration pilot program in Nova Scotia that helps employers hire and retain workers whose skills are in high demand in the construction industry. The program is open to people who have a full-time, permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in one of the eligible occupations.

Eligibility

To qualify for the program, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a full-time, permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in one of the eligible occupations.

  • Be between the ages of 21 and 55.

  • Possess a high school diploma or proof of completing a construction-specific industry training program.

  • Meet the language proficiency requirements (CLB 5 for NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, 3 occupations; CLB 4 for NOC TEER 4 and 5 occupations).

  • Have worked 12 complete calendar months within the last 5 years and a minimum of 1,560 hours in a paid job related to the job you are offered.

  • Meet the financial requirements to settle in Nova Scotia


What you need to know BEFORE you apply

  • You need to submit applications to two levels of government: the provincial and federal authorities.

    1. Level 1: Nova Scotia (provincial): To start, apply for the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) Critical Construction Worker Pilot-Job Offer Pathway. If you receive a nomination through this pathway, a nomination certificate will be sent to you via email. Simultaneously, we will forward proof of your nomination to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

    2. Level 2: Canada (federal): Following your nomination by the Province of Nova Scotia, you should apply to IRCC for your permanent resident visa within six months of receiving your nomination certificate. You have the option to submit applications for yourself, as well as include your spouse and dependents in the application.
