The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, on behalf of the Honourable Minister Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, has announced that the first-ever Express Entry invitations specifically designed to invite skilled newcomers with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) experience will open the week of July 5 to fill the labor gaps across key sectors in Canada currently experiencing workers shortage.
This announcement aligns with the Government of Canada's ongoing efforts to address STEM workforce challenges and further enhance its ability to retain and recruit top candidates with a focus on candidates with STEM expertise including data scientists, software developers and programmers, mathematicians, statisticians, and actuaries, and electrical and electronics engineers to fill the labor gaps across key sectors in Canada currently experiencing workers shortage.
It also complements the Tech Talent Attraction Strategy, a comprehensive initiative launched by the government to attract and nurture tech talent within the country.
Alongside general invitation rounds, these category-based selection rounds will continue throughout the year, reinforcing Canada's reputation as a magnet for talented individuals worldwide.
